Q. Does the tracking only work in Australia? A. Whether you are in London, Paris, Rome, or a country town in Australia, you can send or find the Yes SOS GPS personal locator's position/street address
Q. When I purchase the Yes SOS locator, how do I set up an account with your service centre. A. You will be provided with a username and password on your invoice. Then you just click the customer login link on the menu here to your left, choose country and login.
Q. When I send an SOS or location alert, or if the Yes SOS device is polled via service centre website, how does it know the address where I am? A. The Yes SOS unit updates and stores your location every 20 seconds by tracking up to 24 satellites. When SOS or position alert buttons are pressed, an SMS with latitude and longitude information + speed and direction is sent to our service centre, this position is converted to a street address then sent via SMS and email to a list of people created by you on our service centre website. This all happens in *20-30 seconds.
Q. What if there is no mobile phone coverage? A. It won't communicate. Of the countries we supply to, over 90% of areas have coverage.
Q. How accurate are positions reported? A. Accuracy of position reports are governed by the amount of satellites in range. If only 2 satellites are found (device only needs two) then position can be out 10-50 metres. If several satellites are found then accuracy is about 2-5 metres. There are always enough satellites for an accurate position report but tall buildings etc. reduce this.
Q. How can a position be sent or found if I am inside a building? A. Position on device is updated every 20 seconds and records last satellite position. Example: You call on someone at 1.30pm. At 1.40pm. you are concerned about your safety and discreetly squeeze the SOS buttons. Your location is sent with time of last position outside building, 1.30pm. The person/people receiving the SOS know you must still be at the address they receive.
Q. How do I find the person carrying the Yes SOS locator? A. Simply click on the Customer Login on menu at left and log into PhantomEye tracking site.
You can then click a button there to poll device, their current street address and map can be displayed. Or you can download a program for you mobile from the service centre website, www.phantomeye.com and find/track it on your mobile.
Q. Are there any contracts and fixed monthly fees? A. No
